From the beginning in 1963 when Gasten Glock began supplying the Austrian army with components made of plastic and steel, Glocks reputation grew. In 1980, he set out to design a breakthrough firearm, one that ended up incorporating a light polymer frame, no external hammer, safety lever or decocker. The result was a weapon that was light and ready to shoot. This combination grew the Glock into what it is today.
